Testing dev version
The easiest way to try a development version is in the panel: Settings → Maintenance → Software update shows Development Version Available with Install Dev Version when one exists. To have Home Assistant offer development versions too, set Update channel to dev in the MQTT settings (Settings → Connections → MQTT). The steps below are for testing in a separate environment over SSH.
Prepare VENV
You can check current test version here https://pypi.org/project/boneio/#history
Assume test version is boneio==1.7.0.dev1
mkdir ~/boneio_test
python3 -m venv ~/boneio_test/venv
source ~/boneio_test/venv/bin/activate
pip3 install boneio==1.7.0.dev1Now prepare your config according to release notes.
