Venetian blind

The venetian cover platform — a blind whose slats also tilt.

venetian is the platform for a venetian blind: it goes up and down, and its slats also tilt. It works on the Cover and Cover Mix models and on an ordinary relay board.

Set it up in Settings → Control → Covers with Platform set to VENETIAN. Every field and option is described on Covers.

Sample configuration
cover:
  - id: office_blind
    name: Office blind
    platform: venetian
    open_relay: cover_07_up
    close_relay: cover_07_down
    open_time: 14s
    close_time: 14s
    tilt_duration: 1200ms
    tilt_restore_after_close: true
    restore_state: true

On top of the four required options, a venetian blind needs tilt_duration: how long the slats take to turn from fully closed to fully open.

  • A blind at 0% with its slats still open responds to Close by shutting the slats. In Home Assistant use Close tilt for that — its card greys out Close at 0%.
  • If the drive ignores short pulses and small tilt steps do nothing, set actuator_activation_duration (for example 200ms).
